What we collect, and who else sees it.
Written to be read rather than to be survived. If anything here is unclear, email us and we'll explain it in plain words.

Who we are
WebStar Design is a web studio based in Kingston, Jamaica. For enquiries you send us directly, we are the data controller — we decide what is collected and why.
For personal data collected through a website we built and maintain for a client — a booking form, or that client's AI Concierge — we act as a data processor on that client's behalf. The client is the controller; we handle the data on their instructions.
This notice is written to meet the Jamaica Data Protection Act. Questions, or any request described below, go to hello@webstardesign.co.
What we collect, and why
Two things, and only when you choose to send them.
The enquiry form. Your name, the contact details you give us, and what you tell us about your project. We use it to reply to you and to prepare a proposal. We do not sell it, and we do not add you to a mailing list you did not ask for.
The AI Concierge. The messages you type into the chat widget, and the replies it gives. We use them to answer your question. Please do not type anything sensitive into it — card numbers, identification numbers, health details. It is a question-answering assistant, and nothing about it needs that information.
The Concierge is not built to collect personal details, and its instructions tell it not to ask for them. It gathers only what you volunteer in the course of a question.
Who else processes it
Two other companies necessarily handle data on our behalf. Both are listed here because your information reaches them, not because the law is satisfied by a list.
| Who | What they handle | Where |
|---|---|---|
| DeepSeek | The AI model behind the Concierge. Everything you type into the chat is sent to them to generate a reply. | China |
| Cloudflare | Hosting, DNS and content delivery for this site and the sites we build. | Global network |
Say the important part plainly: when you use the Concierge, the content of your conversation is transferred outside Jamaica to servers in China, where DeepSeek is based. That is a cross-border transfer of personal data under the Jamaica Data Protection Act. It is disclosed here rather than assumed acceptable, and it is a reason to keep anything sensitive out of the chat.
If you would rather not have your message processed that way, use the enquiry form or email us instead. Both reach a person and neither goes near the model.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for as long as we are in contact about the project and for our own business records afterwards.
Concierge conversations are not currently stored by us. Messages are sent to the model to produce a reply and are not written to a database of ours. What we do keep is operational information about each exchange — which site it was, which model answered, how many tokens it used, and whether it handed off to a person. That record does not contain the content of your messages.
Being straight about what isn't built yet. When we do begin storing conversations — so a client can review what their own Concierge told their customers — this notice will be updated first with a stated retention period and an automatic deletion schedule. Neither exists today, because there is nothing stored to delete. We would rather tell you that than describe an intention as though it were a control.
What DeepSeek retains is governed by their own terms, not ours. We do not control it.
Your rights
Under the Jamaica Data Protection Act you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data of yours we hold, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it, where we are not required to keep it;
- stop using it for a particular purpose.
Email hello@webstardesign.co and say what you want. We will reply within 30 days. There is no form and no fee.
If your data was collected through a website we built for one of our clients, we will pass your request to that client, since they are the controller — and we will tell you who they are so you can contact them directly.
Changes to this notice
If what we collect, who processes it, or how long we keep it changes, we update this page and change the date at the top. Adding a sub-processor is a change we will make here before the change goes live, not after.
A note on where this stands
This is the first version of this notice, published alongside the AI Concierge because the two belong together — the transfer it discloses begins the moment the chat is switched on. It describes the system as actually built. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and it is not legal advice.
